Washington DC and Williamsburg

During our two week trip, Ruth Anne and I played tourist and did the common tourist activities. Our nation’s capital is like nowhere else, bold architecture, monuments everywhere you turn and perfectly manicured gardens and lawns - all of it permeated with the history of our nation’s development and growth.

However, when we immersed ourselves in Colonial Williamsburg, for the first time, I felt I was seeing this young country through the eyes of a colonist. There was an abundance of “Ahh-ha” moments, including the realization that our country’s true beginnings were the result of early capitalism and not just religious freedom. It makes me wish I’d have paid more attention in my history classes!
